Borussia Dortmund missed the chance to secure a fifth consecutive Bundesliga win after a dramatic late collapse against Werder Bremen at Signal Iduna Park. Despite taking a two-goal lead in the 80th and 85th minutes, the hosts conceded twice in the closing stages to finish 2-2.

Head coach Niko Kovac was visibly frustrated during his post-match comments, as goals from Ludovit Reis and former Dortmund striker Niclas Fullkrug denied his side victory.

For eighty-eight minutes, we put pressure on our opponent so effectively that we had them on the ropes. But we didn't manage to close out the final eight minutes in the right way. We only have ourselves to blame for that. Niko Kovac

Club management also echoed the sentiment, with managing director for sport Lars Ricken describing the result as "pure disappointment." Defender Waldemar Anton added that the team strayed from their game plan after taking the lead and failed to defend effectively.

Dortmund remains at the top of the Bundesliga standings for now. The focus for Kovac's squad must shift immediately to their upcoming Champions League clash against FK Bodo/Glimt on Wednesday, as they look to recover from this setback.
