The Netherlands secured a convincing victory over Sweden, with a vibrant attacking performance that silenced recent critics. Cody Gakpo was the standout performer, providing two goals and a crucial assist, once again proving his importance on the international stage.
Ronald Koeman's decision to start Brian Brobbey proved to be a masterstroke. The striker scored twice in the opening 17 minutes, providing the ideal focal point for the Dutch attack. Denzel Dumfries was equally influential, delivering two pinpoint assists to facilitate the dominant scoreline.
Despite the offensive success, the defensive unit remains a point of contention. The experiment of playing Micky van de Ven at left-back proved costly once again. The Tottenham defender struggled with his positioning and was repeatedly exposed by Swedish attackers, reinforcing the notion that the position does not suit his natural game.
