During Al-Nassr's 3-1 away victory against Al-Faisaly in the Saudi Pro League, a debate emerged regarding the authorship of one of the goals. In the 49th minute, Cristiano Ronaldo leaped to head the ball following a cross from Joao Felix, with the ball subsequently finding the net.
Initial statistical reports credited the five-time Ballon d'Or winner with his 982nd professional career goal. However, detailed slow-motion replays sparked significant discussion, showing that Ronaldo's header was heading wide until it struck Al-Faisaly defender Giroto, changing the trajectory and directing it into the net. Under football regulations, the goal should be officially recorded as an own goal.
This match marked the star veteran's return to the pitch following a 30-day suspension imposed by the Portuguese Football Federation, stemming from a dispute with head coach Jorge Jesus and his unauthorized departure from the national team camp.
Despite the controversy, the win secures Al-Nassr's position in second place in the league table. With 25 points from eight wins this season, the club continues to chase the leaders in the title race.
