Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed his delight with his side's resilience after they recovered from an early setback to defeat Chelsea 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners fell behind within just two minutes but responded with a commanding performance to continue their perfect start to the season.
It wasn't the right start but we certainly reacted in an amazing way. I enjoyed the way we competed; we took risks, it was a joy to watch and an incredible game. Mikel Arteta
Captain Martin Odegaard was central to the victory, scoring the decisive goal shortly after the break. Arteta highlighted the Norwegian's influence, noting how his settled personal life is fueling his world-class output on the pitch. Odegaard has now scored twice in three Premier League appearances this campaign, already doubling his goal tally from the entirety of last season.
This win maintains Arsenal's perfect record with nine points from their first three matches. While the team conceded within the first two minutes for the first time since August 2023, the manager praised the quick recovery and the overall competitiveness of his squad.
Looking ahead, the schedule remains demanding for the North London side. Arsenal travel to face Napoli in the UEFA Champions League this Wednesday, followed by a domestic clash against Sunderland on Saturday.
