Emmanuel Eboue backs reigning champions Arsenal to retain Premier League title

Former Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboue has backed the Gunners to successfully defend their Premier League title this season. Following a 22-year wait, Arsenal finally lifted the trophy last campaign and currently sit just three points behind leaders Manchester City in the 2026-27 standings.

Despite a recent 3-0 setback against Brighton, Eboue remains optimistic about the team's consistency under Mikel Arteta. "Arsenal are my team. This season is going to be very tough because there are so many good teams and good players. But if Arsenal play the way they have been playing, I believe they can win the league. I would give them maybe a 75 per cent chance," Eboue told LiveFootballTickets.

Eboue also identified Chelsea, managed by Xabi Alonso, as a significant threat to Arsenal's title defense. He pointed to the quality and depth at Stamford Bridge as factors that could unsettle the north London side's momentum. However, he emphasized that the psychological profile of the current Arsenal squad has evolved significantly.

Arsenal have been getting closer and closer. If you keep getting close every year, one day you will win it. I believe in this team. Emmanuel Eboue

Reflecting on Arteta's impact, Eboue noted that the Spaniard has transformed Emirates Stadium into a fortress. The team's maturity was further highlighted by their recent gritty 1-0 Champions League victory over Napoli, proving they can handle high-pressure environments effectively.
