Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl has provided a definitive update on the ongoing transfer speculation surrounding Michael Olise. The executive revealed he was in contact with the player multiple times throughout the 2026 World Cup to discuss his status and future.

During a media session on Wednesday, Eberl expressed his frustration with the constant rumours linking the 24-year-old talent to Real Madrid. Despite repeated denials from both clubs, the narrative persisted throughout the tournament, which Eberl labeled as tiresome.

The discussions also covered squad logistics, specifically regarding the number 11 shirt left vacant by Nicolas Jackson's departure. Eberl revealed that he offered the number to Olise, who wears it for France, but the player chose to retain his current number 17. The number 11 was subsequently assigned to new signing Nathaniel Brown.
