Mac Allister hopes for Messi to continue with Argentina after World Cup

Argentina midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has shared his thoughts on the future of Lionel Messi within the national squad. Following the victory over England in the World Cup semi-final, the Liverpool player admitted he hopes to see the captain continue playing for the "Albiceleste" for some time.

"It is complicated. It is a very personal decision. I do not know if he has a clear idea of what he wants to do. He keeps making a difference, and for us, it is a massive boost that he continues to play with us. I hope he stays for a long time, but we will see," said Mac Allister.

Messi himself has remained tight-lipped regarding his plans following the tournament. After the clash with England, the captain avoided direct answers, citing physical exhaustion and his absolute focus on the upcoming final against Spain.

"It is difficult. I am tired. My teammates give their maximum in every match, we have played many 120-minute games. But there is only one step left, one more match, and we will keep fighting, trying to recover and give our best as always," Messi stated in an interview.
