20-year-old Club Brugge forward Nicolo Tresoldi remains at the center of an international tug-of-war between Germany and Italy. The young striker, born in Sardinia, has yet to make a final decision on which national team he will represent.
Germany head coach Jurgen Klopp confirmed that the German federation is in contact with the player and is closely monitoring his development at Club Brugge. However, the manager firmly ruled out the idea of pressuring the forward to make an immediate choice.
We spoke to Tresoldi – as did Mancini. This does not only apply to Tresoldi: we don't have to run after anyone. The boy has to make a decision when he is able to do so. Jurgen Klopp
Tresoldi intends to defer his final decision until after the 2027 UEFA European Under-21 Championship concludes. Meanwhile, former Italy head coach Roberto Mancini continues efforts to persuade the Sardinia-born attacker to commit to the Italian national team.
