Manchester City head coach Enzo Maresca believes that Rayan Cherki is among the strongest players in Europe. According to the manager, the key to unlocking the French midfielder's full potential is ensuring he is deployed in his optimal position on the pitch.
Maresca highlighted the danger the midfielder creates when receiving the ball in the pockets between the opponent's defensive lines. The coach drew comparisons between his recent performances, specifically his goal in the Champions League match against AEK and his strike in the game against Liverpool.
Rayan is currently one of the best players in Europe when he is in the right position. When we manage to find him between the lines, he is always dangerous. If we can keep him there and find him with passes, he will be one of the best. Enzo Maresca
The manager added that Cherki often likes to roam freely and move around to find the ball, which sometimes forces him out of those optimal pockets. However, based on his goal and assist statistics, Maresca considers the Frenchman to be a vital player for his squad.
