Carles Manso: Andorra must be more direct to score goals
Andorra manager Carles Manso calls for a more vertical approach ahead of Monday's clash against Burgos in the Segunda Division.
Ahead of the Segunda Division match against Burgos, Andorra manager Carles Manso has issued a clear call for his team to be more direct. Following a 2-0 defeat to Girona, the coach emphasized that the team needs to prioritize attacking the goal rather than focusing solely on possession.
Manso pointed out that his team often gets caught up in building play through numerous passes, which allows opponents to reorganize defensively. He insists that goals are not a result of how many passes are completed, but rather the efficiency of reaching the final third.
Sometimes we think we will score only through possession and combinations. But goals don't come from 20 or 50 passes; they come from finding a way to reach the rival goal. Our goal must be to attack the net, regardless of whether we do it in two, ten, or twenty passes. Carles Manso
The manager clarified that while Andorra will remain a team that plays with joy and short passing, they must find the determination to finish attacks earlier. Analysis of the Girona match showed that the team frequently opted to play backward instead of driving at the last defensive line, giving the opponent time to recover.
For the upcoming fixture, Andorra will be without the suspended Diego Alende and Marc Domènech. Manso views this as an opportunity for fringe players to step up during a demanding week with multiple matches in six days. Additionally, Bomba could return to the squad after recovering from discomfort.
Manso also shared his thoughts on the opposition, describing Burgos as one of the most uncomfortable teams in the category. He praised their defensive structure, resilience, and ability to adapt their pressure depending on the game's requirements.
