In the fourth round of the UEFA Champions League, Manchester United secured a hard-fought 3-2 home victory against AS Roma. The win serves as a crucial moment for the team, which has been struggling with consistency recently.
A pivotal moment in the match involved Bruno Fernandes, who was tasked with a retaken penalty after an encroachment call. The midfielder emphasized the immense responsibility he felt during that decisive moment.
Honestly, I was very lucky with the penalty retake, but the second time I made a clear decision on where and how to shoot. I knew there was huge responsibility on me—this could have changed the game. Bruno Fernandes
The United captain acknowledged that the team is going through a difficult spell. However, he dismissed the idea that the squad’s quality has diminished, stressing that the current struggles are not permanent.
There is quality in our team; we saw what we were capable of last season, and it cannot be that all of that has just disappeared. These are the same players. We even added quality signings in the summer, so we just need to keep working. Bruno Fernandes
Following the victory over the Italian side, Manchester United shifts focus to Premier League encounters against Aston Villa and Liverpool, before facing Sporting CP in their next European fixture.
