Jamie Gittens: Morgan Rogers can inspire Chelsea to Premier League glory
Chelsea winger Jamie Gittens believes the arrival of record signing Morgan Rogers will be the catalyst for the club's Premier League title challenge.

Jamie Gittens has backed Morgan Rogers to be the driving force behind a new era of silverware at Stamford Bridge. Rogers recently completed a British record £117 million move from Aston Villa, a transfer that Gittens believes sends a major statement of intent as Chelsea look to end their wait for a Premier League title since 2017.
Speaking from Chelsea’s pre-season tour in Sydney, Gittens expressed his excitement about the competition for places in the squad. "We want to win everything – that is our ambition, to win the Premier League, the FA Cup and win anything that we’re in. Bringing in a player like Morgan will hopefully raise the bar to win titles," Gittens said.
The arrival of Xabi Alonso as head coach has significantly boosted morale at the club. Gittens, who faced Alonso’s unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen side during his time with Borussia Dortmund, believes the Spaniard’s tactical acumen is exactly what the squad needs. "He is a world-class midfielder, he’s probably the best to ever do it. He talks to us individually, speaks to us about what we can improve on. As a player, that’s all you want."
For Gittens, the new season represents a chance to prove his worth after a 2025-26 campaign hampered by a serious hamstring injury. After completing a rigorous solo training programme this summer, he feels physically stronger and more confident as he battles for a starting role in a competitive attacking unit.
