Godolphin's Gold Cup hero Trawlerman retired
Gold Cup winner and dual Long Distance Cup champion Trawlerman has been retired following a leg injury sustained at the Goodwood Cup.
Godolphin's star stayer Trawlerman, a former winner of the Ascot Gold Cup, has been officially retired from racing. The decision followed a leg injury sustained during his recent run at the Goodwood Cup.
The eight-year-old, trained by John and Thady Gosden, retires with over £2 million in prize money. His illustrious career included two victories in the Long Distance Cup on Champions Day and a win in the Ebor. His performance in this year's Gold Cup, where he narrowly finished second after an eight-month layoff, was considered one of his finest.

Earlier this year, the team revealed he suffered from a condition that made his eyes highly sensitive to sunlight, leading him to wear protective ski goggles during races. John Gosden expressed the emotional impact of his departure, noting that he had become a much-loved member of the family at Clarehaven Stables.
Trawlerman will now move to Wood Ditton Stud, where he will enjoy his retirement in facilities he is already familiar with from previous holidays.
