Former Swiss international and ex-Tottenham Hotspur and Celtic defender Ramon Vega has confirmed his intention to run for the FIFA presidency. The election to lead football's world governing body is scheduled for March 18, 2027.

While current president Gianni Infantino has already faced a challenge from Japan Football Association honorary president Kozo Tashima, Vega emerges as a new candidate looking to disrupt the status quo.

I am not running because I have spent my whole life trying to get a job, but because my path has prepared me to serve this sport. Ramon Vega

The 55-year-old has already outlined a 12-page reform program. Vega has attempted to run for the presidency previously in 2015, 2019, and 2022, but he failed to complete the formal registration procedures during those cycles.
