Domenico Tedesco to become Bologna head coach
Italian-German manager Domenico Tedesco has agreed to take charge of Bologna, replacing Vincenzo Italiano.
Bologna has identified their new head coach. According to expert journalist Fabrizio Romano, 40-year-old Italian-German manager Domenico Tedesco is set to take the position. The coach has already accepted all terms offered by the club management and is expected to sign the official documents shortly.
Tedesco replaces Vincenzo Italiano, who departed the team following the conclusion of the 2025/2026 campaign. It was a transitional year for the club, as they finished 8th in Serie A with 56 points, missing out on European competition qualification.
Tedesco moves to Italy following a spell in Turkey, where he managed Fenerbahce. With the Istanbul club, he finished second in the domestic league and secured the Turkish Super Cup in early 2026, ending an 11-year trophy drought. His resume also includes coaching the Belgium national team and spells with RB Leipzig, Schalke 04, and Spartak.
His appointment follows a season where Bologna struggled to maintain consistency. His most notable achievement remains winning the DFB-Pokal with RB Leipzig in the 2021/2022 season, marking the club's first major trophy.
