Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Manchester United striker Melvine Malard for a fee of approximately £850,000. The 26-year-old France international is set to undergo a medical before completing the move to Stamford Bridge, where she will reunite with manager Sonia Bompastor.
Malard is expected to become Chelsea's third signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Katie McCabe and Manaka Matsukubo. Her arrival is a crucial addition to Bompastor's attacking options following the departure of Sam Kerr to Gotham FC.
Malard was statistically United's most productive attacker last season, contributing to 19 goals in all competitions. Manchester United had initially hoped to retain the player by offering a new contract, but she expressed a desire to leave. United ultimately agreed to the fee to avoid losing her as a free agent next summer.
