Former Reds star Danny Murphy remains unconvinced that the massive price tag should dictate expectations for the player's immediate impact. "I think whether you move for £100 million or £10m or £100,000, wherever you are, if you're a forward player, you want to start showing not just the fans, but the players around you what you're capable of," Murphy noted.

Murphy emphasized that Barcola's current situation is primarily a matter of building match fitness. Although the winger looked sharp during his appearance against Atletico Madrid, he needs more time to reach the physical condition required to sustain performance in the Premier League. He is expected to secure his spot on the left flank as he integrates further into the team.
Addressing transfer speculation, Murphy dismissed the idea that the signing was a snap decision. He believes Liverpool had been monitoring Barcola for a significant period, viewing him as a clear upgrade over Cody Gakpo in the attacking rotation.
