Liverpool winger Bradley Barcola has provided a candid assessment of his transition to English football following his move from PSG. The forward admitted that the shift in physical demands was a significant shock compared to his time in France.
Barcola noted that while Ligue 1 is characterized by physical impact and heavy contact, the Premier League’s reliance on end-to-end transitions requires a different type of conditioning. The constant, high-paced movement left him physically exhausted during his debut appearances.
In my first games I had cramps because the intensity is very high. I find it less tactical than in Ligue 1. It is a lot of running, and that is why I struggled initially. Bradley Barcola
Despite the physical toll, the French international emphasized that testing himself against higher demands was the primary motivator for his move to Anfield. He views the adaptation process as a crucial step in his career development.
As he continues to improve his match fitness through training, Barcola remains focused on sustaining high-speed output for the full 90 minutes. His ability to handle these physical requirements is seen as vital for Liverpool's attacking system as they compete for silverware this season.
