Premier League clubs reluctant to strip Manchester City of past titles
Despite guilty verdicts for financial breaches, Premier League clubs show little appetite to retrospectively strip Manchester City of their past trophies.

The football world has been focused on the consequences for Manchester City after the club was found guilty of most of the 115 charges related to financial rule breaches between 2009 and 2018. During this era, the club secured eight major trophies, sparking intense debate regarding the legitimacy of those honours.
However, according to BBC Sport, there is little appetite among Premier League clubs to pursue the stripping of past titles. Such an extreme measure is widely seen as a move that could jeopardise the competition's historical integrity and commercial stability, while also raising uncomfortable questions about the past achievements of other clubs.

While the removal of titles is considered unlikely, the threat of severe sanctions remains very real. An independent disciplinary panel is set to determine the ultimate penalty, with potential outcomes including massive fines, significant points deductions for the current campaign, or even expulsion from the top flight.
As the legal process continues, Manchester City face a wave of potential compensation claims from rival clubs. The team is now refocusing on the pitch, with challenging upcoming fixtures against Liverpool and PSG in the Champions League.
