Luis Diaz: 'Bayern is special' and focused on Champions League glory
Luis Diaz has opened up about his seamless transition at Bayern Munich and his determination to secure Champions League success under Vincent Kompany.

Since his €75 million move from Liverpool in the summer of 2025, Luis Diaz has become an essential figure for Bayern Munich. The winger tallied 26 goals and 23 assists during his debut campaign, helping the club secure a clean sweep of all three German domestic titles.
Despite this success, Diaz remains focused on the one trophy that eluded them: the Champions League. Last season, the team suffered a narrow 6-5 aggregate defeat to PSG in the semi-finals. "The past is in the past; we had a great season, but if you don't back that up this year with the same or even better, I think it will be forgotten," the 29-year-old stated.

Diaz credits the tactical cohesion under manager Vincent Kompany for his productivity. He noted that the Belgian coach grants forwards attacking freedom while simultaneously demanding collective defensive discipline and strong positioning.
The Bavarians have started their new European campaign strongly with a 5-0 win over Bodo/Glimt. Domestically, they currently hold 10 points from their first four Bundesliga matches. The team returns to action following the international break with an away trip to Augsburg on October 10.
