Bogdan Popov scores penalty, but Empoli exit Coppa Italia
The Ukrainian striker converted his spot-kick, but Empoli lost the penalty shootout to Pisa after a 1-1 draw.

Empoli, featuring Ukrainian striker Bogdan Popov, have been eliminated from the 2026/27 Coppa Italia. In their round of 64 match, the team fell to Pisa following a penalty shootout.
The match ended 1-1 after extra time. Pisa took the lead in the 44th minute through Marras, but Empoli leveled the score in the 61st minute thanks to a goal from Saporiti.
With no further goals in extra time, the result was decided by penalties. While Bogdan Popov successfully converted his attempt, two of his teammates missed their shots, allowing Pisa to secure a 4-3 victory in the shootout and progress to the next round.
