Vinai Venkatesham: Tottenham need ‘complete reset’
Tottenham chief executive Vinai Venkatesham has called for a 'complete reset' at the club following a difficult Premier League season that almost ended in relegation.
Tottenham Hotspur chief executive Vinai Venkatesham has admitted the club requires a 'complete reset' to address systemic failures after a challenging season that saw the team narrowly avoid relegation from the Premier League.
Venkatesham acknowledged that while the club boasts world-class infrastructure, the performance culture has been lacking. 'Our training centre is amazing, one of the best in the world. But when you look around, it looks more like a five-star hotel than it does a performance environment. That will change over the summer,' he explained.
The executive reflected on the tumultuous campaign, including the failed appointment of Igor Tudor. He confirmed that the club had pursued Roberto De Zerbi earlier in the year, but the manager was not willing to join mid-season. Since his eventual arrival, De Zerbi has made an 'extraordinary impact' according to the club leadership, helping secure their top-flight status.
Addressing the intense frustration from supporters, Venkatesham insisted that the club is actively working to resolve long-standing issues. He emphasized that the upcoming transfer window is critical, with plans to raise the wage ceiling and focus on bringing in players with experience, leadership, and physical robustness to compete in the demanding English league.
