Barcelona is planning to revive its efforts to sign Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez during the winter transfer window. The Argentine remains a priority target for the Catalan club, despite an unsuccessful attempt to negotiate his transfer this summer.

According to Sport.es, Atletico refused to enter into negotiations regarding the forward's transfer during the summer. However, Barcelona has no intention of giving up its interest and will monitor the situation until January. The signing of Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal has not changed the Catalans' plans. The Brazilian is seen as an immediate attacking reinforcement rather than an alternative to Alvarez.

By the time the winter transfer window opens, Barcelona's financial situation could improve. It is expected that the club will gain between 65 and 70 million euros in additional space within financial fair play regulations, which will allow for more active work in the market.

At the same time, Atletico currently shows no willingness to negotiate for its main striker with the Catalans. Therefore, a potential move for Alvarez to Barcelona will depend on how the situation develops over the coming months.
