Valentin Barco, who recently joined Chelsea for £34m, has credited a significant positional change for his rapid career progression. Originally arriving in Europe as a full-back, the Argentine spent the vast majority of his minutes last season operating as a central midfielder for Strasbourg.
The tactical shift proved to be a catalyst for his development, resulting in 58 appearances, three goals, and 11 assists for the French side. These performances were instrumental in earning him a place in the Argentina national team squad and securing his move to London.

Barco highlighted the influence of Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso and the club's global stature as primary factors in his decision to move to Stamford Bridge. He noted that personal conversations with the former midfielder played a major role in his choice.
Now a Chelsea player, the 22-year-old faces stiff competition for a spot in Alonso's engine room. His ability to adapt to the intensity of English football and dictate the tempo will be crucial as he fights to maintain his standing in the international setup ahead of upcoming fixtures.
