Scott McTominay set for heart surgery in London

Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay is scheduled to undergo surgery in London on Monday to address a cardiac condition that has sidelined him. The former Manchester United player, who joined the Italian side in the summer of 2024, was diagnosed with a mild and benign episode of cardiac fibrillation.

Napoli remain optimistic that McTominay will be available for selection next month, provided his recovery progresses according to plan. The club is hopeful that resolving the issue early in the campaign will ensure he is fully fit for the demanding winter schedule.

Sporting Director Giovanni Manna confirmed that the midfielder is required to wait 28 days before receiving full medical clearance to play. This mandatory period is a standard protocol for such procedures to ensure heart rhythm stability under physical strain. The medical team at the club’s Castel Volturno training ground will oversee his progress upon his return from England.

His return is highly anticipated, given his pivotal role in Napoli's 2024-25 Serie A title triumph and their subsequent success in the Supercoppa Italiana. The club’s medical staff will monitor his daily rehabilitation closely once he is back.
