Jorge Jesus denies rift with Cristiano Ronaldo

Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus has publicly denied any rift with captain Cristiano Ronaldo following reports that the forward refused to participate in team training. Speculation intensified after the Al-Nassr player did not feature in the 2-1 win over Norway and headed straight to the dressing room at the final whistle instead of acknowledging the traveling supporters.

Addressing the media ahead of the Nations League fixture against Denmark, Jesus clarified that there was no incident, explaining that it is natural for any player to be unhappy when they are warmed up but ultimately not used. "Afterwards, as coach, I decided not to bring him on. It's nothing to make a fuss about," Jesus stated.

The manager also rejected claims that Ronaldo had refused to train, stating that the 41-year-old was performing individual mobility and strengthening exercises. However, the situation remains under scrutiny as media reports noted Ronaldo leaving the Parken stadium separately from the squad.

Looking ahead to the upcoming match against Denmark, Jesus confirmed that AC Milan striker Goncalo Ramos, who scored the winner against Norway, will remain the preferred choice to start. "If everything goes according to plan, it will be Goncalo who plays," the manager added.
