Real Madrid defender Raul Asensio has spoken candidly about a difficult period in his career following a conviction for driving under the influence. In September, the 23-year-old was fined €14,400 and had his driving license suspended for eight months after failing a breathalyzer test.

Head coach Jose Mourinho publicly criticized the player, emphasizing that representing Madrid requires professionalism 24 hours a day. Asensio fully supported his manager's stance:

Mourinho was absolutely right. I made a mistake, I admitted it then and I admit it now. I have to be aware of where I am. I am at Real, and this cannot happen again. Raul Asensio

Beyond the legal issues, the player was recently acquitted in a separate case regarding the alleged distribution of private materials. Currently, the focus for the defender is his physical rehabilitation. On October 1, he underwent surgery for a stress fracture in his right tibia and is expected to remain sidelined until early next year.

Despite his current setback, Asensio reiterated his desire to spend his entire career at the club and win trophies in the white jersey.
