Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has reflected on his time working with Jose Mourinho, noting that the Portuguese coach has become calmer over the years. Despite this change in temperament, the keeper emphasizes that Mourinho has retained his trademark directness and rigorous standards.
"Jose Mourinho has become calmer, but he still exerts strong pressure on the pitch and during his talks with the team. He still expresses his opinion directly and frankly. He is a brilliant coach, just as I knew him at Chelsea," said Thibaut Courtois.
Courtois added that experience changes everyone, and he admitted that he himself has become less reactive to things that previously would have angered him. The goalkeeper maintains that the essence of Mourinho's high-pressure management remains intact.
Reports recently emerged that Mourinho declined an opportunity to manage the Portugal national team during the summer, aiming for a potential return to the Madrid club instead.
