PSG trigger release clause to sign Lucas Digne from Aston Villa

Paris Saint-Germain have officially informed Aston Villa of their decision to trigger the release clause for Lucas Digne. Despite being under contract at Villa Park until 2028, the release clause made the experienced full-back an accessible target for the Parisian side. Reports suggest Digne is set to sign a three-year contract. In a twist of fate, he could face his former teammates almost immediately, as PSG are scheduled to meet Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup on August 12.

For the Midlands club, Digne's departure marks the end of a successful tenure that included a triumphant Europa League run.
