Former Chivas player Néstor Vidrio has opened up about a missed opportunity to play in Europe. The defender revealed that he had an offer from French club Lille during his time with the Guadalajara side, but the deal could not be completed before the transfer window closed.

Vidrio recounted that he spoke directly with the late Jorge Vergara, who was the owner of Chivas at the time, to express his desire to pursue the opportunity.

It was my dream. Jorge Vergara told me he was going to help me, but his people convinced him not to let me go. Néstor Vidrio
According to the player, while Vergara initially seemed willing to support his departure, internal pressure within the club led to the deal being halted.

For Vidrio, playing in Europe was a career-defining objective that was not dependent on the prestige of the league. He emphasized that he would have accepted almost any destination to leave Mexican football, expressing disappointment that the move did not happen when he had the chance.
