The first round of the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League group stage in Division C saw four matches take place. The most lopsided result came in Serravalle, where Finland thrashed San Marino 7:0. Captain Joel Pohjanpalo led the charge with a hat-trick, while the hosts were reduced to ten men early in the second half following the dismissal of Alessandro Golinucci.
In Plovdiv, Luxembourg secured a comeback victory against Bulgaria. After falling behind to an early strike from Chandarov, the visitors turned the game around with goals from Barreiro and Vincent Thill to finish 2:1.
Meanwhile, the Faroe Islands and Kazakhstan shared the spoils in Torshavn after exchanging first-half goals in a 1:1 draw. A similar scoreline was recorded in Reykjavik, where Iceland and Estonia finished deadlocked at 1:1. Iceland’s goalkeeper Hakon Valdimarsson played a pivotal role by saving a penalty kick from Kevor Palumets shortly after the break.
