Morocco women thrash Kenya in AFCON opener

Hosts Morocco made a perfect start to the 14th edition of the Women's Africa Cup of Nations, securing a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Kenya on Sunday evening. The team dominated proceedings from the opening whistle in front of their home crowd.

Sakina Ouzraoui broke the deadlock in the 19th minute, with Meryem Attig doubling the lead nine minutes later. Ibtissam El Jraidi added a third in the 32nd minute and completed her brace in the 47th minute to seal the emphatic result.

The result leaves Morocco tied at the top of Group A with Algeria, who also enjoyed a successful start by defeating Senegal 2-0. Algeria secured their points through goals from Marine Dafeur and Melissa Bethi.

Morocco and Algeria are now set for a high-stakes head-to-head meeting this coming Thursday. The winner of that clash will likely decide the group's top spot and significantly impact the qualification path for the remainder of the tournament.
