Manchester United remain keen on 24-year-old Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite as they plan significant defensive reinforcements. The Old Trafford club has been the frontrunner for the player since 2024, when their initial £45 million bid was rejected by the Toffees.
Liverpool have now emerged as a potential competitor for the English defender's signature. However, a move to Anfield could be complicated by Everton's firm stance, as the board is highly reluctant to strengthen their fiercest local rival.
Branthwaite's current deal with Everton runs until June 30, 2030, giving the club significant leverage in any potential negotiations. The defender has played five full matches in the Premier League this season and earned two international caps for England in the UEFA Nations League.
