Liverpool sign teenage goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans in £30m deal

Liverpool have completed the signing of 18-year-old goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans from Belgian side Genk. The deal, which could reach £30m including add-ons, involves a six-year contract for the young shot-stopper.

Brughmans will remain with Genk on loan for the current season. His move to Anfield is scheduled to take place ahead of the 2027/28 campaign.

Standing at 6ft 7in, the Belgian keeper has already established himself at Genk, starting all four games this season and representing his nation at the youth level. His acquisition is the latest move by Liverpool's global talent department, led by Matt Newberry, which has recently secured young talent from across Europe and South America.

The club currently manages a goalkeeping department featuring Alisson, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Freddie Woodman, and Vitezslav Jaros. With Alisson's contract set to expire next summer and uncertainty surrounding Mamardashvili's future, Brughmans is seen as a key long-term option for the club's goalkeeping rotation starting in 2027.
