English manager Laura Kaminski is celebrating a dream debut season in Norway. Since taking charge of SK Brann in January, the 38-year-old has led the club to a league and cup double, marking a significant turnaround in her coaching career.
Kaminski, who previously managed Crystal Palace, described the past ten months as a "hectic" but rewarding experience. Moving from London to Bergen required significant personal sacrifices, but the opportunity to compete in Europe and adapt to a completely different football culture has been a major professional milestone.
Reflecting on the tactical differences, Kaminski noted that the high-risk, attacking nature of Norwegian football was a challenge she had to overcome. She believes this exposure to a more relentless pressing style has provided her with valuable "fuel for the future" and a more well-rounded skillset.
Looking ahead, Kaminski is advocating for more recognition of female coaching talent in England. With recent data showing a decline in female coaches, she hopes her success abroad demonstrates that women are capable of managing at the highest levels, including in the men's game, provided the football world is ready to offer such opportunities.
