Juventus are considering a late move for Italy international Mateo Retegui as they scramble to add another centre-forward before the transfer deadline. According to reports, manager Luciano Spalletti is eager to secure a proven focal point to provide depth and competition for places during a congested schedule.
Retegui has re-emerged on the radar in Turin after being monitored by the club in previous windows. Spalletti, who coached the striker during his time with the Azzurri, values his work rate and penalty-box instincts. The potential move also has the backing of sporting director Marco Ottolini, who initially brought the forward to Serie A from Argentina in 2023.
Despite the interest, the deal faces significant financial hurdles. Juventus are reportedly favouring an initial loan, but Retegui's reported €20m annual salary at Al-Qadsiah makes a transfer difficult. Before sanctioning any new arrivals, the club must also offload Jonathan David to balance their squad.
With the transfer window nearing its end, a move for Retegui remains a long shot unless Al-Qadsiah agree to subsidise a major portion of his wages. Juventus have already brought in Randal Kolo Muani and Jeff Ekhator this summer, but the departure of Dusan Vlahovic and the loan exit of Lois Openda have left the manager pushing for further reinforcements.
