Javier Aguirre emerges as top candidate for Valencia

Javier Aguirre has emerged as a primary candidate for the head coach position at Valencia. Following a dismal start to the La Liga campaign, where the team sits at the bottom of the table with only one point from five matches, the club has initiated a major sporting restructuring.

Reports indicate that after two other candidates declined offers, talks with the experienced Mexican manager have become serious. While sources suggest Aguirre has expressed willingness to take on the project, a formal offer from the club is still pending, and the coach has not yet traveled to Spain.

The management changes extend beyond the dugout, as the club recently parted ways with head coach Carlos Corberan, CEO Ron Gourlay, and four other senior executives. The club hopes that appointing Aguirre will be a decisive step in overcoming a long-standing sporting crisis.

Should he join, Valencia would become the seventh Spanish club managed by Aguirre, who has previously coached Osasuna, Atlético Madrid, Real Zaragoza, Espanyol, Leganés, and Mallorca. His current tenure with the Mexican national team is set to run through the 2026 World Cup.
