Valencia adjusts Javier Aguirre's coaching staff

Valencia is making further adjustments to its coaching staff in an effort to climb out of the La Liga relegation zone. Former Barcelona staff member Unai Alba is joining Javier Aguirre's team as a new goalkeeping coach. His appointment is expected to be made official shortly, with a contract running until June 30, 2027.

For Alba, this represents a return to the club where he served as an academy coordinator from 2014 until his move to Barcelona's youth setup in late 2023. He is expected to work alongside Andoni Ochotorena, contributing to both the first team and the academy.

The board's decision comes as Aguirre has struggled to produce immediate results, with the team remaining in the danger zone after his first three games in charge. While Aguirre had reportedly hoped to bring in Joseba Ituarte, the club has opted to integrate Alba into the current technical structure.

The next challenge for Aguirre's side is a Copa del Rey first-round clash against Tavernes this Wednesday, October 28. Following that, Valencia faces a crucial La Liga match against Elche on November 1, which could prove decisive in their bid to move out of the relegation spots.
