Ibrahima Konaté has spoken candidly about his current situation with the French national team during the World Cup. The defender acknowledged a clear sense of frustration regarding his limited minutes, having featured for only 14 minutes in the group stage match against Norway.
I think I am a leader, even if there is this frustration which is clear. The most important thing is the World Cup, it happens every four years. If it goes well, what do you want to say to him? It means he was right. Our role is to unite and help each other. Ibrahima Konaté
When asked about the management style of Didier Deschamps, Konaté praised the coach's honesty. Despite facing stiff competition for a starting berth from the likes of William Saliba and Dayot Upamecano, the defender remains focused on the squad's collective goal as they prepare for the upcoming semi-final against Spain.
Additionally, the defender touched upon his move to Real Madrid in June. He described the club as the greatest in history, admitting that the reality of the transfer has yet to fully sink in until he steps onto the pitch in the club's jersey.
