Glenn Whelan appointed as new Livingston head coach

Former Republic of Ireland international Glenn Whelan has been appointed as the new head coach of Livingston.

Former Republic of Ireland international Glenn Whelan has been named the new head coach of Livingston. The 42-year-old takes over with the clear objective of steering the club back to the Scottish Premiership following their relegation last season.

Whelan brings coaching experience from stints with Bristol Rovers and Wigan Athletic, having served as interim manager on two occasions at the latter. Sporting director David Martindale emphasized that Whelan’s values align with the club's philosophy and that his background, including nearly 100 international caps and over 300 Premier League appearances, will bring a winning mindset to the squad.

I will give my all for the club moving forward. I'm grateful to the board for their belief in me, and the hard work has already begun. Glenn Whelan

Livingston is undergoing a significant transition after being demoted from the top flight, where they managed only two wins in 38 games. The club parted ways with previous manager Marvin Bartley following the conclusion of the campaign.
