Deco: Barcelona always acted respectfully regarding Julian Alvarez

Barcelona sporting director Deco has opened up about the club's pursuit of Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez, emphasizing that the Catalan side maintained professionalism throughout the process.

Addressing the details of the interest, Deco stated: "There are things we cannot talk about. We did things properly. We submitted an offer worth €100 million, to be paid over three years, but we received no response. From that moment on, it was mainly talked about in the press."

Deco further clarified the nature of the communication between the two clubs. "Jan has already explained that he spoke to them a few times, always respectfully. They told us they did not want to sell the player," he explained.

The director also firmly dismissed speculation that Barcelona had encouraged the player to force an exit: "We did not ask the player to say at the Club World Cup that he wanted to leave Atletico."

When asked about the future, Deco refrained from committing to specific plans, noting that every moment must be assessed based on its own context, despite the surrounding media speculation.
