David Martindale insists Livingston mission is short-term

Livingston sporting director David Martindale has stepped back into the dugout as interim manager following the dismissal of Glenn Whelan. Martindale, who had moved into his administrative role after six years as manager, will lead the team alongside Frankie McAvoy for their upcoming Championship fixture against Greenock Morton.
Despite admitting that he misses coaching, Martindale has been firm in his stance that this arrangement is strictly temporary. He explained that his involvement is intended to provide the club with stability while they conduct a wider search for a permanent successor.

The club has acknowledged that the start of the 2024-25 season has not met expectations, with the team losing three of their first five league matches. Ownership remains focused on winning the league, which prompted the early change in management.
Looking ahead, Martindale stated that the club intends to cast its net wider than usual. While confident in their understanding of the domestic game, he emphasized the need to bring in new expertise and experience from different football markets, including European ones, to steer the club forward.
