Esteban Andrada: Monterrey neglected Liga MX for Leagues Cup
Monterrey goalkeeper Esteban Andrada admitted the team lost focus in the domestic league due to their participation in the Leagues Cup.

Monterrey goalkeeper Esteban Andrada has spoken candidly about the reasons behind the team's inconsistent form in the Liga MX Apertura 2026 season. According to the Argentine shot-stopper, the priority placed on the Leagues Cup campaign negatively impacted their domestic performance.
Following their victory against Pachuca in Matchday 12, Andrada stressed that the team must regain consistency for the remainder of the championship. He acknowledged that extensive squad rotation and a shift in focus were clearly reflected in their recent results.
We really neglected the tournament because we focused on the Leagues Cup and that was noticeable. There was a lot of rotation, we neglected the championship, that was evident. But well, now we have to get back on that path and this is the way. Esteban Andrada
Andrada also reflected on his time away from the club and his subsequent return. He noted that stepping away from the institution allowed him to refresh his mindset and return with a clear objective to help the team. The goalkeeper added that maintaining a consistently high level over several years is a difficult task for any player, citing Lionel Messi as the rare exception.
