Dani Carvajal: “The only thing I want is to compete”
After 23 years at Real Madrid, the veteran defender has joined Getafe and is eager to get back on the pitch.
Dani Carvajal has officially joined Getafe. After 23 years with Real Madrid, the defender has chosen a new challenge, turning down options in exotic leagues to focus on competing within Spain.
In his introductory press conference, the player emphasized that his primary motivation is to play football at a high level. "My life is football. I am a passionate person, and I am driven by the need to compete, especially after these last two years of injuries where I couldn't get the continuity I wanted," the defender explained.
Carvajal dismissed rumors of a winter exit clause, confirming his commitment to remain for the entire season. He noted that he has already settled in well under manager Jose Bordalas and is eager to act as a veteran mentor for the younger players in the squad.
While he remains open to a potential return to the Spanish national team, his immediate focus is on his new club. Carvajal is aiming for success in the league, the domestic Cup, and the Conference League, viewing the project at Getafe as an ideal fit for his professional goals.
