Sheffield United legend Billy Sharp has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 40. The veteran forward concludes a remarkable 22-year career having scored 299 goals across English football.
Throughout his extensive career, Sharp represented a wide array of clubs, including Rushden & Diamonds, Scunthorpe United, Southampton, Nottingham Forest, Reading, Leeds United, and Doncaster Rovers. His connection to the Blades, however, remains the defining chapter of his playing days.
Sharp had been a free agent since departing Doncaster Rovers at the conclusion of last season. He signed off in memorable fashion, netting a hat-trick against Peterborough in his final professional appearance.
