Joan Laporta confirms peace with Atletico Madrid CEO after transfer feud

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has declared an end to the long-standing tension with the leadership of Atletico Madrid. During the 33rd General Assembly of the European Football Clubs in Copenhagen, Laporta and Atletico CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin held a meeting that signaled a peaceful resolution between the two clubs.

The rift emerged during the summer transfer window when Barcelona's pursuit of Julian Alvarez caused significant irritation at the Metropolitano, leading to public criticism from the Atletico hierarchy regarding the Blaugrana's market strategies. Laporta confirmed that both sides have now moved beyond these disagreements.

The meeting in Denmark marked a significant milestone in Barcelona's efforts to rehabilitate their standing within European football. The reconciliation extended to other key figures, with PSG president and EFC leader Nasser Al-Khelaifi welcoming the Spanish giants back to the collective fold. Laporta has also focused on strengthening his relationship with UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin, marking a turnaround from the frostier relations seen in previous years.
