Alyssa Thompson reflects on Chelsea debut and sets trophy targets
USWNT star Alyssa Thompson reviews her first season at Chelsea and outlines ambitious goals for the 2026-27 campaign.

Alyssa Thompson admitted that her debut season at Chelsea exceeded her initial expectations following her move from Angel City. The 21-year-old USWNT star quickly established herself as a key attacking threat in London, finishing the campaign as the club's second-highest scorer with nine goals across all competitions.
While her individual performance was impressive, Thompson noted that the team failed to meet the high standards historically associated with the club. After winning six consecutive Women's Super League titles, the team finished third under Sonia Bompastor and suffered a quarter-final exit from the Women's Champions League against Arsenal.

Despite the setbacks, the American forward believes the team has grown closer through adversity. Looking ahead to 2026-27, her focus is entirely on helping the squad return to the top of both domestic and European football, with a clear aim to secure more silverware than in the previous campaign.
