Following a chaotic series of announcements in their official app, Zamalek has officially confirmed the exit of sporting director John Edward amid internal disputes.

Zamalek has officially announced the end of its relationship with sporting director John Edward. The confirmation followed a period of confusion, during which the news appeared in the club's official "Zamalkawy" app, was deleted, and then reinstated. Meanwhile, a post on the club's Facebook page remained, deepening the uncertainty surrounding the decision.
Edward's departure comes after a season in which the team secured the Egyptian league title. The club is currently preparing for the new campaign and a return to the CAF Champions League, having settled pending cases and secured the necessary African license. However, these successes are overshadowed by an ongoing administrative crisis.
Reports suggest a major fallout between club president Hussein Labib and Edward. A five-hour meeting between the pair reportedly ended without an agreement on key footballing matters, most notably the appointment of a new head coach. Edward advocated for the signing of Serbian coach Vuk Rasovic, but Labib preferred to retain Moatamed Gamal, citing concerns over costs and the Serbian's track record.
Beyond the managerial search, disputes over the establishment of a new football company and the distribution of stakes to investors have added to the tension. Edward reportedly warned the board about a precarious financial situation, citing insufficient liquidity to meet salary obligations and the risks of instability if the situation is not addressed within a two-week window.
