Vampeta criticizes Raphinha and Vinícius Júnior in Brazil national team

Former Brazil international Vampeta claims current stars lack the necessary status in the national team due to a lack of major titles with the Seleção.

Following Brazil's 2-1 victory over Egypt in their World Cup preparation cycle, former national team star Vampeta has publicly questioned the status of key forwards Raphinha and Vinícius Júnior.

Speaking on Jovem Pan radio, the world champion challenged their positions as undisputed starters. «What moral authority do they have? I am not taking away their merit at club level. But in the national team, they have no moral standing. What have Raphinha and Vinícius done to enchant our eyes? They have no titles. They can win now, so go and win,» he stated.

Vampeta further noted that the current generation has struggled to deliver results over the last eight years, failing to meet the high standards expected by the nation.

The match against Egypt saw Brazil take an early lead through Bruno Guimarães, though the game was marred by an injury to Wesley, who left the pitch in tears and is now a doubt for the upcoming World Cup. Endrick scored the winning goal in the second half following an assist by Raphinha.
