The second matchday of the UEFA Women's Champions League group phase has provided a stark contrast for the Italian clubs involved. AS Roma suffered a heavy 6-0 defeat at the Tre Fontane against a dominant Barcelona side. Even without Alexia Putellas, the Spanish giants underlined their status as tournament favorites with a clinical performance.
Hansen and Pina both netted braces for the Blaugrana, while Ewa Pajor added to the scoreline alongside an own goal from Roma's Oladipo. Following the loss, Roma remains on one point after two games, having previously drawn their opener against OH Leuven.
Inter Milan displayed resilience in their away fixture at the Franz-Horr Stadion, securing an important 1-1 draw against Austria Vienna. Sassarini's side trailed for the majority of the match but snatched an equalizer through Ivana Andrés in the final moments of play. The result leaves Inter with four points from their first two outings.
Barcelona currently stands alone as the only team with a perfect record of six points. A pack of clubs including Lyon, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Inter, and Chelsea follows with four points each. Juventus currently holds three points after their second-round victory.
